Lewis Hamilton won his decisive 7th F1 World Championship in style, grace and humility. He again showed the rest of the world and the rest of the field why he was the true champion as he gave them a master class in driving in the rain. While many drivers kept spinning out of the track including his team mate Valterie Bottas whom Lewis eventually lapped , Lewis kept his cool even though his car was sliding and he struggled with the grip on many occasions.
Lewis pitted only once, a controversial decision though he was asked to pit again to get a fresh new set of intermediate tyres. However Lewis knew that this would slow him down as they tyres would need time to warm up and get the grip required. He handled his set of tyres nurtured them and brought them to the finish line almost 30 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.
When he crossed the finish line and composed himself at the the winners stop, he was emotional and spent a few minutes composing himself before jumping out of his car and running towards his team like he now always does. The first driver to congratulate him was Sebastien Vettel who got back on the podium with a 3rd place after a long time.
Fans all around the world were delighted as many who were following Lewis F1 career for the last 13 years celebrated this historic win.
Congratulations Lewis!!!
My son growing up believed he was the next Lewis Hamilton until when his dreams came to an end when we could not afford any more lessons even though he was very good .We celebrate you with him even though he doesn’t believe it.Thank you for also supporting Black lives matter we need to see our children striving in every field!!!
Amazing!…. Congratulations! Having quietly followed your journey for many years, I totally take my hat off to you and your family. Swimming ahead of the `norm`, quietly chipping away at your ambitions, total attention to minute details…….remembering them, learning from them and logging them in your brain………plucking them out, as and when, in a milli second you need to act upon one. Even when the scenarios are against you, you steady away, picking off your fellow competitors in such a calm, seamless manner. Always positioned perfectly and never bullying. You and the team at Mercedes are so respectful of each other……. a true team….. and a rare one! Long may it last.. I remember you once said that you approach each race as if it was your first,…… with the thoughness. It is your dignity throughout and kind words of thanks to the team. What an awesome, proud, kind, appreciative human being…… being true to yourself and your family.
What an honour to live at a time to witness the maturing of such a rare sportsman. Thank you.
Good luck on the future road you choose to take. x
That was thrilling, and very moving. I was a little concerned when Bono and Toto congratulated you because you were obviously sobbing while you were still driving. You are the greatest English athlete of all time! Enjoy now!
